CareerStack

UPDATE 2014-11-30:  Full source and issue tracking available over on Bitbucket!

In mid-September 2014, I took a cursory look in the Play Store for a careers.stackoverflow.com app; something to browse the listings more readily on a device.

At the time, I was only able to find one such app. The app in question, however, was not only restricted in country support (Barbados being excluded) but platforms (3.0 and up). Furthermore, this app was somewhat incomplete; only accounting for keywords and locations while neglecting the additional options available such as “Allows remote”, “Distance”, and “Relocation offered”.

As an international developer still supporting 2.3.3 (11.7% of the market, at writing), I found this to be unreasonable and so set off to create a better, more complete app.

Presenting CareerStack: NO LONGER AVAILABLE on Google Play

An Android app I decided to build in mid-September 2014. Its purpose is to provide an easy and complete app for Android users to browse careers.stackoverflow.com. It offers:

  • 2.3.3 and up support (with holo-theme)
  • Full query support including: Keywords, Location, Distance, Allows remote, Relocation offered
  • Multi-language support, including English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish; thus far

(version 0.5.0)
